Catalina Scuba Cylinder S80 ( 11.1L)

The 80 cubic foot aluminium cylinder has been the staple cylinder in the diving industry for many years. This cylinder is used by more divers, dive operators and retail dive stores than any other type of cylinder available.

The standard valve supplied with this cylinder is one of the highest flow cylinder valves available today and is also a convertible valve. Whether you dive Yoke or DIN regulators this valve will work for both. Valve has an easily removed 200 bar DIN insert to convert the valve for use with DIN regulators. Valve has a heavy duty deign with a smooth operating mechanism and multi-ported burst disc plug for added safety.

Aluminium cylinders unlike steel cylinders don't rust, they oxidise. The oxidisation of aluminium forms a protective coat that hinders the continuation of corrosion making aluminum cylinders less likely to be condemned due to excessive corrosion.

Because of it's highly regarded buoyancy characteristics, the Catalina S80 aluminium cylinder is a popular choice as stage/pony tank(s) by technical divers going really deep, or on very long dives. For longer, deeper dives they often use these cylinders to carry a Nitrox mix (e.g. EAN50, 50% oxygen) to accelerate their decompression on accent. The Catalina S80 is a great cylinder for doing this.

Valves:
We supply a DIN to Yoke convertible, cross-flow valve as standard. The valves are made by Ocean Design. They are strong and reliable being made from really top quality materials. The valve regulator connection incorporates a threaded insert, which means it can equally be used for both INT bracket (Yoke) or DIN connection.

Note: If you require your cylinder unvalved, instead of a convertible DIN/Yoke valve, please specify when you order.

Valve Oxygen Cleaning:
The Catalina aluminium cylinders are supplied Oxygen (O2) clean, suitable for use with up to 100% oxygen. However, if you are planning to use the cylinder with Enriched Air Nitrox (Nitrox) mixes up to 100% oxygen, it's essential for the safety of the cylinder user and the person filling the cylinder that the valve be oxygen cleaned and prepared with special o-rings, seats, and grease designed for exposure to pure oxygen. The cylinder should then be banded with the familiar yellow and green Nitrox band/wrap/sticker, and an Oxygen Clean 'In Test' inspection sticker applied.
